The S&P 500
The S&P is composit is adjusted from 10 to 15 times per year. The S&P is considered a benchmark for large stock investors. The index includes many new technology, and telocomunications companies, and those that are targeted for acquisition and mergers.

NASDAQ
The NASDAQ is extremely volatile because it contains many growth oriented companies. Most companies included do not pay regular dividends because of the need for reinvestment of profits to grow the business

THE DOW
The dow is the price weighted average of 30 actively traded blue-chip stocks.

THE RUSSELL 1,000
This indices tracks the 1,000 largest companies in the United States.

THE RUSSELL 2,000
The Russell 2,000 tracks the smallest two thirds of the nations 3,000 largest companies.

THE WILSHIRE INDICES
The Wilshire 5,000 index is the most the most widely followed and the widest range indices. It actually now considers more than 6,000 stocks. Created by Wilshire and associates in Santa Monica California
