401As ARE CONSTRAINED BY THE SAME IRS RULES
401As first came into existence in 19
When you take what is called a distribution from a 403b before retirement age you are constrained to by IRS CODE. For example mutual fund custodians are required to withold 20% which is subsequently sent to the IRS. The IRS also charges a 10% witholding penalty.
To take and early distribution an individual must meet what is called a "trigering event." These indclude:
